Well-known songwriting partner to Sir Elton John, Bernie Taupin, has put his Santa Ynez Valley home for sale at $4.7 million.

Called Roundup Valley Ranch, the gated estate has close to 30 acres. Designed in the Mediterranean-style, the main house is complemented by a separate guest house or studio, along with an office space. Next to those are gorgeous equestrian stables and a riding ring with a covered arena. Building restrictions in the area prohibit this feature, which likely factored into the price.

Surrounded by mature oak trees, the mansion has vaulted-ceilings in the great room and opens to a bar and entertainment area. The kitchen has Jerusalem stone and granite, an island and a pizza oven.

In total, the home is 5,000-square-feet and has six bathrooms and five bedrooms. French doors also lead to an outdoor space that has a terrace and swimming pool that has views of the horse stables and stream-fed pond. The guest house has a custom designed handball court and was primarily the office and art studio. Taupin’s many albums and records decorate the wall space inside the studio.

Taupin has owned the ranch for over two decades and primarily used the estate to raise and show horses. He wrote such songs as “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Your Song,” and much more.
