Nick Saban has won National Championships at two of the most storied programs in American college football, Louisiana State University (LSU) and the University of Alabama. He is the highest-paid college coach in the country. His coffers have been enlarged further by the sale of Lighthouse Pointe, an investment property he co-owns on Lake Burton in the Great Smoky Mountains, in Clayton, northeast Georgia.

Christie’s International Real Estate put the house up for auction. A total of 2,821 prospects were identified, and eight bidders were permitted to participate in the sale. The price was not disclosed, but Saban had been said to be asking $11 million for the property.

“The Pointe,” as it’s nicknamed, is situated on one of Lake Burton’s most prime lots, and is truly tucked away in the Smokies: One source says, “It’s in the middle of nowhere Georgia. No strip clubs, no Whole Foods, nothing… 40 miles from the nearest Panera, 17 miles from the nearest Chick-fil-A.”

Built in 2010 with natural local stone, reclaimed timber beams and heart pine and Pennsylvania Bluestone flooring, the 9,600-square-foot estate has six bedrooms, six full baths and three half-baths, a 24-foot vaulted ceiling, a wine cellar, a European-style pub, a billiards room, a home office, professional kitchens, staff quarters, and a four-car garage. It features a custom boathouse with a swimming dock and a Cape Cod-style stone lighthouse, which showcases a terrace-level entertainment deck with a 270-degree view of the lake and the mountains, a fire pit and an outdoor kitchen and grilling area.
